Stuart Firestein is a professor and former Chair of Columbia University’s Department of Biological Sciences. Dedicated to promoting the accessibility of science to the public, he seeks to reach broader audiences through nonscientific writing, public appearances, and supporting science in the arts. He wrote two books on science for the general public: Ignorance: How it Drives Science (2012), and Failure: Why Science is So Successful (2015).
