Alison Davis is a senior science writer and science-policy strategist. Alison earned a B.S. in biochemistry from Virginia Tech, a Ph.D. in pharmacology from Georgetown, and did a post doc in Developmental Biology at Stanford, after which she completed the Science Communication program at the University of California, Santa Cruz. Since 1998, Alison has continued to work on a consultant basis with NIH, including with the Office of the Director and several institutes and centers, and as a speechwriter and scientific writer for senior scientists and physicians at NIH and elsewhere. She wrote “Always There,” a biography of Dr. Ruth Kirschstein that was published in December 2011. She lives on the Eastern shore of Maryland with her husband, sons, and several pets.
