Celebrated actress Glenn Close spoke about the importance of confronting the stigma of mental illness at Neuroscience 2010, the annual meeting of the Society for Neuroscience. Mental illness advocacy is a personal mission for Close. Her sister Jessie has bipolar disorder, and Jessie’s son, Calen, has schizo-affective disorder. Inspired by the strength of her own family, Close helped create BringChange2Mind. This nonprofit organization is dedicated to raising awareness about mental illness and eliminating the stigma associated with it. Jessie and Calen joined Close to discuss their experiences and personal struggles with mental illness.
