More than 10 million people worldwide are living with Parkinson’s disease, a movement disorder that targets dopamine neurons in the substantia nigra. The depletion of these brain cells lead to problems with initiating and maintaining intentional movement. This makes tremors, rigidity, and balance impairment a common symptoms of the disease. According to the Parkinson’s Foundation, nearly one million people in the United States are living with the disease as of last year.
